Offering the Very Best in a Nature-Focused Montessori Education
Nature's Classroom Institute and Montessori School, set on over 150 idyllic acres, in rural Mukwonago WI, bases its outdoor and nature focused Montessori program on Dr. Maria Montessori's fundamental belief in the deep connection between children and Nature. This is reflected in the daily outdoor start that all our classrooms have. The Children’s House students spend a minimum of 45 minutes after drop off playing in the woods, prairies or hayfields, the Elementary students leave for their Morning Exploration (an intentional hike to a spot chosen by students), while the Adolescent students head to our farm that they manage (housing over 80 animals and birds) to complete the morning chores. There is no maximum time limit on the daily outdoor time our students have – but certainly a minimum of at least 2 hours each school day.
We intentionally offer the outdoors as a naturally prepared environment where children can learn from Nature, in Nature and about Nature. Indoors, our fully equipped Montessori rooms are lit by an abundance of natural light streaming in through our large windows inspiring our students with gorgeous views of our spectacular landscape. We pride ourselves in being able to seamlessly merge the outdoors and indoors.
Our school has a strong, supportive and creative parent body that reflects promotes the school’s mission of inclusion, love for the outdoors and a commitment to the Montessori philosophy. PABC ( Parents Actively Building Community) organizes social and fundraising events that support the school financially while nurturing strong and respectful relationships between and among families.
